The End of an Era... for now.

I am so sad! Our time in New York is almost ever, and the end has come much too soon! I really have fallen in love with this city. My life is going to be so quiet with out all of NYC's constant diversions and adventures to be had. There's never an excuse to be bored out here, that's for sure. I've discovered how much I enjoy stumbling across the many delicious bakeries, exploring new paths in the Park, and walking through impressive galleries. I love the hustle and bustle. And I am going to miss it. Most of all, I am going to miss all my fun friends! The start of BYU's fall semester is still so far away, and although I'm not dying to be reunited with textbooks, I will be dying to see the other investment banking wives again! It's sad to know not all of us will be returning to NY next year, but I'm so happy we were all out here this summer. Here's to our last week of adventures:

First off we celebrated Jani's 23rd birthday a little early by going to Viva la Crepe for dinner, followed by funfetti cake at her apartment. It was such a fun evening out with the girls (and James, Jani's husband). You can't tell, but we tried to write out "23" on her cake.

Jani, Lane, me, Emily, and Whitney. We're just missing Camille and Liz. I love these girls!

The next day Whitney and I walked around Central Park and just so happened to get tickets to Shakespeare in the Park's "Love's Labour's Lost"! They had so many extra tickets (because it was raining) we were able to pick up some for Liz and her mom! The play was very well done: the set was very pretty, the acting was great, and they were such talented singers. It was such a neat modern take on the classic play! My favorite part was each man's individual love song/letter to his girl. Each guy had a different costume and style to his song: jock, rocker, Shakespearian, and there was even a silver sequined angel/cupid tap dancing number! The only thing that bothered me about the play was the completely unnecessary expletives! It was such a bummer, cause I was really excited to take Clark's parents and little sister to see it, but the language really was an issue for me.

We had to be so sneaky to get this picture, apparently you're not allowed to take photos. Oops!

The next day Whit and I went to the Met. I had seen most of the first floor, but had not yet made it to the European paintings on the second floor, which was what I was most looking forward to. It was amazing. So many of my favorite artists, and all in one place! I felt like a kid in a candy store, just overwhelmed by the beauty around me. My favorite section housed the impressionist artists. If you go to the Met you have to see the Egyptian exhibit, the Roman/Greek exhibits, and the European paintings.

On Saturday most of our husbands got off in the afternoon! So we all met up for dinner and dessert. We found this out afterwards, but the restaurant we we went to, Pomodoro, is in Seinfeld! And the Magnolia Bakery on the Upper West Side is across the street from "The Shop around the Corner" storefront in You've Got Mail! It's always fun to recognize places I've been in movies and TV shows.

Monday was my last day with the girls before my in-laws got in town, so we had to get together before we all went our separate ways  for a month. First Liz and I met up to explore Battery City/ walk along the Hudson/ shop in Chinatown! Super fun.  Then we met up with the rest of the girls for dinner at Breeze Thai in Hell's Kitchen and then had dessert at Momofuku's milk bar. YUM! I am going to miss the endless food choices available in New York. You really can find anything and everything out here.

To cap off our experience as investment banking wives we just had to wake up for Cronuts. I don't know how many of you have heard of the cronut craze but out here they are a HUGE deal. This bakery genius, Dominique Ansel, created this amazing dessert called a cronut. Basically it's a doughnut made with croissant dough,  filled with custard/cream, coated in sugar, with a glaze ring around the top. And it melts in your mouth. It was the most unique and delicious dessert! Anyways, the huge deal is that Mr. Ansel only makes 250 cronuts a day. And each customer can only buy 2 cronuts. So if you want to try one of these bad boys you better be in line before 6 am (the bakery opens at 8am). I am not a big morning person, but for cronuts, I totally am. Next time you're in New York and want to blow your sweet tooth's mind go get a cronut. It's totally worth it! And they provided the perfect ending to a wonderful summer. Thank heavens we get to move out here next year for a full time position!
