Flying into Fall

All at once it's started to feel like fall here in the city! I can't say I mind - even though this summer was pretty mild, it's nice to have a break from the humidity and heat. And with the fall weather comes all the fun fall events that take place here. Including Fashion Week! Now I've always wanted to by in NYC for fashion week - it sounds so incredible, getting to see all the big designers put on a show of their new creations. And I had always thought fashion week would completely dominate the city with swarms of fashionistas and celebrities. Haha little did I realize that NYC stays pretty much the same, and if you want to see the hubbub you have to look for it! And miraculously Jani found a free fashion show for us to attend - the Ralph Lauren show!

Ready to amazed by the new spring 2015 designs!

Have any of you seen World of Color at California Adventures in Disneyland? So the Ralph Lauren show was displayed in a similar way - on a 60ft tall waterspray over the Central Park Lake. Talk about making a SPLASH!

My favorite set during the show was his display of the Brooklyn Bridge! So neat!

The next day, while we were waiting for the next temple session to start, we popped over to the Lincoln Center to watch the fashion show attendees arrive for a show. There were all sorts of crazy outfits! It was really neat to see everyone all dressed up for the show.

Can we please talk about how perfect her shoes are?!

Thanks Jani for getting a picture of these models!

As if my week couldn't get more fun - on Thursday I went and got a library card for the New York Public Library!!!!! Please let me know if you have any favorite books to recommend!

What's this? Just the view from my office. No big.

And to top off this great week, Clark had all of Saturday off work!!! I was so happy :) To enjoy our unexpected freedom we went to the Brooklyn Bridge Park for the kite festival with James and Jani. It was great! There wasn't a ton of wind, but it was enough for some skilled kite flyers. And they had some darling kites for sale, so we got one to fly! Despite it being crowded and not too windy we had a couple of good runs with the kite. And since it was so close, we went to Julianna's for lunch. Hands down, Julianna's beats Grimaldi's in my book! Following lunch we ran some errands and then met back up to make caramel apples and watch a movie. It was a perfect first day of fall!

Flying over the downtown skyline! PC:Jani

 Our kite! PC:Jani

These two were quite determined. All sorts of planning when into launching our kite! PC:Jani

Oh and the sunset last night was kind of incredible. I climbed out onto the fire-escape and just thanked my lucky stars that I get to be a New Yorker.

  2. I always thought the fashion shows were very exclusive so I was really impressed you got to see the Ralph Lauren show. A library card is a ticket to hundreds of new worlds, and Clark having Saturday off is the best!

    1. Patti - they usually are extremely exclusive! We only got to go because they did a public screening of the show. And I am already loving all the worlds I'm exploring through my library books!! It's so fantastic :)
