Clark and I love birthdays. We love celebrating birthdays. We love birthday cake. We love birthday parties. And we love birthday presents. So we try to make birthdays last as long as possible - hence the birthday month. It's also been a birthday month because we have a million family members with birthdays in August/September! First my brother's birthday is the 31st of August, then mine is on the 3rd, then my Dad's is the 4th, then Clark's brother Spencer's is on the 5th, and our niece Opal's is on the 6th. SO many birthdays! So much to celebrate, I love it.
First up: my early birthday celebration in Danville.
Shelley is the sweetest mother-in-law in the world. First she took me out to a birthday lunch/girl date at Basil Leaf Cafe. If you're ever in Danville, you should try this place out. Basil Leaf has delectable salads, incredible soup, and their pesto chicken pasta is phenomenal. Seriously, try it. Then we went vintage window shopping cause she knows its one of my favorite things ever. Danville has some of the best antiques. I can't wait until I can afford to really decorate my house. You can bet I'll stop by downtown Danville to find some vintage items. Then Shelley made a huge Texas sheet cake (cake #1) because she knows how much I LOVE chocolate. And we all sang Happy Birthday. Because we didn't have candles for me to blow out we pulled poppers. I felt so celebrated. I love birthdays!

Then it was time to celebrate the Hull birthdays. David. Me. Dad.
In case you didn't read my last post, read it. Haha just kidding, you don't have to. Just to catch you up, we left Folsom and made the long drive out to Utah on the 30th. For a good portion of the drive David, Emily, Clark, and I tried to determine who would win in an epic battle: Superman or a Jedi? How bout Batman vs Superman? Dumbledore vs Gandalf? Captain Kirk or Han Solo? Yoda vs Dumbledore? Who do you think would win? Can you tell we're pretty nerdy? But I digress... oh and we also tried to cast a live action Hercules movie. Pretty awesome.
Anyways, we celebrated David's birthday in good old Utah. Because Utah is less awesome than California, we had to do something pretty sweet to celebrate David's birthday properly. So we decided to go ATVing outside of Park City Utah. I will say, one of Utah's major perks is all the sweet hikes and outdoorsy stuff you can do. And ATVing was awesome! It was super steep, super rocky, and super muddy. Success. And we all went! Even Brie! And the trails were beautiful. At the top of the trail you could see a ton of the Wasatch Mountain Range. Gorgeous!
After we cleaned up, we headed down the mountain to Provo. This year both Emily and I are at BYU and I am so happy she's here! We even have a class, geology, together!!! To finish off David's birthday celebration we grabbed dinner at a classic Provo restaurant - La Dolce Vida. Best homemade Italian food. And they have an incredible minestrone soup!
The next day we celebrated my birthday! We woke up early to attend Music and the Spoken word at Temple Square. I love how much talent is appreciated in our church. And the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is incredible. We spent a few hours enjoying the beauty of Temple Square too. If any of you haven't been to Temple Square, please go! I promise you'll at least enjoy the gorgeous buildings and flowers. Plus the model of the temple that allows you to take a virtual tour is very neat.

After our time in SLC we went back up to Park City for naptime, dinner, and cake #2 for David, Daddy, and I! I seriously ate a TON of cake this birthday. This one was German Chocolate... yum! And side note: trick candles are just mean. I got so lightheaded trying to blow them out. We then made our way down to Provo to play at Joaquin Park to play with the kiddos for a little while. For those of you who haven't read this whole blog... that's where Clark and I went on our first date! After playing in Provo for a while, we had to go our separate ways - my family back to beautiful California and we stayed in Provo.

After my family left it was time to celebrate with friends! The Petersons have a wonderful home up in Midway that they let us use from time to time. So up to Midway we went to celebration round 3! I just need to establish, I have the best friends in the world. First off, it can always be a little awkward merging different friend groups at parties, but my friends are so awesome there was no awkwardness at all! I loved it! Second, my friends spoiled me like crazy with all the desserts they brought. There were amazing cookies, oreo truffles, delightful brownies, and even a Momofuku's Birthday cake! AH! Third: all my friends went around the table and said what they love most about me. OH my heavens. That is what birthdays are all about people. Feeling loved. And boy did I feel so loved, and so blessed to have such wonderful and caring people in my life. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.
And I'm the worst. I did not take enough pictures of my little birthday bash, so I feel awful I didn't get a huge group shot, but here are a couple!

Finally it was my actual birthday, celebration 4 for those of you counting. My birthday fell on the first day of school this year... boo. But my darling sweetheart made it so wonderful. When I came home from work he took me out to PF Changs for dinner. So delicious. Then we went back home to open presents. I had absolutely no idea what Clark got me. And you know when you jokingly say you'd love some super nice expensive gift, but you totally don't think you'll actually get it? Like never in your wildest dreams did you think you'd get it? Well... I got it. A Nikon D3200. AH! Clark spoils me so much!

And as if my birthday wasn't sweet enough, we went out for a birthday (cup)cake at Cocoa Bean with Emy! There you have it! My perfect birthday month, full of wonderful family times, amazing friends, and of course - sweet treats. I think I'm going to like being 21.
